About

SummervilleNews.net was founded as a Facebook group of concerned citizens in 2018. The name it was originally founded as was the Dorchester County Watchdog group. A group of informed citizens were upset with the lack of local news coverage on what they thought were important issues happening on a local level. They felt that even the local news outlets weren’t reporting nor investigating some of the major stories and scandals happening in Summerville. The group now has over 2,500 members that are active each day chatting about the daily issues and happenings in and around Summerville. We hope this site can continue to serve Summerville as a resource residents can use to stay informed about what their local governments are doing since these issues affect residents the most on the local level. Subscribe to our weekly email newsletter to get the latest news each week or join the private Facebook group to join the conversation!
