DD2 School District Delays First Day of School Again Due to Hurricane Debby

In response to ongoing concerns related to Hurricane Debby, Dorchester School District Two (DD2) has announced another delay in the start of the school year.

Originally set to begin on Friday, August 9th, the first day of school has now been pushed back to Tuesday, August 13th.

District officials are working closely with Dorchester County Emergency Management as they continue to assess the safety of local roads, some of which remain impassable due to the storm's impact. The safety of students and staff remains the district’s top priority.

Despite the delay, most elementary schools will still hold their "Meet the Teacher" events on Sunday, August 11th as planned. This will allow students and families to prepare for the upcoming school year while ensuring that all safety precautions are in place.

The district will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary. Please stay tuned to DD2 communications and SummervilleNews.net for the latest information.
