Summerville, SC - The Dorchester District Two School Board will hold its regular meeting tonight, Monday, August 12, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the district’s main office located at 815 S. Main Street, Summerville.
Among tonight’s district highlights, the Board will recognize P.J. Morlando of Summerville High School, who was recently drafted by the Miami Marlins and named the Gatorade South Carolina Baseball Player of the Year. Additionally, a student from Joseph Pye Elementary School will be honored as a recipient of the Lt. Governor's Scholarship.
Public comments on agenda items will be heard before the Board Chair delivers a report, which includes recognition of the 2023-2024 SCSBA Boardmanship Institute. The board committees will then present their reports, with upcoming meetings scheduled for August 26 and September 23.
The Superintendent's Report will cover several important topics, including a Bond Resolution for SCAGO GO Bonds, updates on the referendum, an academic report on seat time recovery, a safety report, and a personnel report with recommendations and resignations. The report will also include student enrollment recommendations for the 2024-2025 school year.
The meeting will conclude with public comments and an executive session to evaluate the superintendent and discuss any necessary personnel matters. Any actions resulting from the executive session will be addressed before the meeting adjourns.
