Summerville, SC - Tonight at the Summerville Country club at 7:00pm four local candidates for the nonpartisan Dorchester District Two School Board will participate in a public forum designed to help the public learn more about the candidates before the November 5th election. This year's election will be the first time DD2 School Board candidates will have the opportunity to compete in single member districts based on local geography as opposed to having to campaign across the entire school district.
Tonight the four candidates that will participate are Eric Unger, Jim Lee, Patrick Davidson, and Cynthia Powell. Unger's opponents Sabrina Edwards and Justin Farnsworth (the incumbent) did not respond to requests to participate in the forum. Powell, the incumbent in District 5, will not be facing her opponent Glenn Zingarino who declined the invitation to allow voters to hear more about his platform. In a Facebook post Zingarino said, "I will not speak in front of any political organization that represents a specific party".
Lee and Davidson, both men vying for the District 7 seat and members of the Dorchester Republican Party will be the only candidates facing their opponents in tonight's forum.
Attendees will be allowed to submit question prior to the forum that will be screened and asked to the candidates.
