PREVIEW: Third Thursday Celebrates Back-to-School with Summerville DREAM

Summerville’s beloved tradition, Third Thursday, returns tomorrow evening with a back-to-school theme that invites everyone to wear their school colors and celebrate the start of the new school year. Organized by Summerville DREAM, this monthly event transforms Historic Downtown Summerville into a vibrant community gathering with local entertainment, food, and extended shopping hours.

This month’s Third Thursday will feature live music from the Paul Stone Project on the Hutchinson Square stage, ensuring a lively atmosphere for all attendees. Food trucks, including The Pita Stroller, Dean's Meaner Wieners, Lib's Diner, and Krystyna's Polish Food, will be serving up a variety of delicious options. Downtown shops will also remain open late, providing an excellent opportunity to support local businesses.

Third Thursday is more than just an event—it’s a celebration of community and local culture. Each month, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, rain or shine, Summerville’s downtown transforms into a bustling marketplace. Local artisans and craft vendors line the streets, while entertainers add to the festive vibe. Traffic will be rerouted from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, so plan accordingly, and don’t forget there’s plenty of free parking available, including in the town garage behind Town Hall.

Summerville DREAM (Downtown Restoration, Enhancement, and Management) is the driving force behind Third Thursday and many other initiatives that bolster the town’s economic vitality and community spirit. DREAM is a collective of small businesses, specialty vendors, and entrepreneurs dedicated to enhancing Summerville’s local business landscape. Their mission is to promote a “shop local” mindset, creating a thriving environment that benefits both businesses and consumers.

Through events like Third Thursday, DREAM fosters relationships, supports local entertainment, beautifies the downtown area, and enhances marketing outreach. Their work not only enriches the community but also creates a competitive edge for local businesses against larger retail stores and online shopping.

Don’t miss out on this month’s Third Thursday! Come downtown, enjoy the music, food, and shopping, and show your school spirit as we kick off the new school year together.
