Summerville, S.C. - Summerville Town Councilman Russ Touchberry is set to kick off his campaign for Mayor of Summerville with an event on Wednesday, May 10, at 6 pm at the Dorchester Boat Club located at 148 Dorchester Trail. Register for the event for free here.
Touchberry, a Summerville native and accomplished civil engineer, has already set a fundraising record for this early in the campaign, with over $75,000 raised according to a recent ethics disclosure. Sources say the haul was from a single fundraising event he held in mid-March, a few weeks before he publicly announced he was running for mayor.
Touchberry has focused on infrastructure, traffic solutions, and promoting alternative modes of transportation with an emphasis on safety. He has also worked to support local businesses, promote economic growth, and improve the quality of life for those less fortunate.
Real estate agent Dickie Miler is also running for mayor, with Miler having raised just over $22,000 for his campaign according to the most recent April ethics filling.
The town's current mayor, Ricky Waring, was elected in 2019 but announced last summer that he would not seek reelection.
The event on Wednesday will be an opportunity for Touchberry to connect with potential supporters and outline his vision for Summerville's future. Learn more about Russ at his website russtouchberry.com
