US Will Not Send Official Delegations to Beijing 2022

Boycotting the Winter Olympics in Beijing has been a growing call over the past couple of months.

Boston Celtics star Enes Kanter(Freedom) has been a significant voice against the human rights violations occurring in China.

OutKicks Clay Travis, also very outspoken, has called multiple times this year for the US to completely pull out of the Winter Games and host our own here in the states.

It seems maybe some of the messages have finally started going through to the Biden Administration.

Recently Joe Biden announced that the United States will not be sending official US delegations to the 2022 winter Olympics.

“The White House is looking to send a clear message that the human rights abuses in China mean there cannot be business as usual. “

White House press secretary Paski told reporters during a briefing

Paski also stated how Team USA athletes will have the administration's full support; however, the administration won’t add to the games' fanfare.

China, of course, was not happy with this move threatening retaliation

“The wrong move of the US has undermined the foundation and atmosphere for China-US sports exchanges and Olympic cooperation.”

Is just part of the statement released by Zhao Lijian, china’s Foreign Ministry ministry spokesperson

This story will likely develop over the coming months as we get closer to the 2022 Winter games in Beijing, and Summerville News will keep you updated and informed.
